From my garden studio in Chorleywood I create oil paintings based on the effects of time passing and the elements. I gained a BA (Hons) in 2004. Since then I have exhibited widely in the local area and in Europe.
My focus often reflects our own transience and ageing process, with works often inspired by the continual process of decline and decay. I seem to ‘collect’ themes and subject matter for painting, which I return to constantly with new developments in my practice so that subjects are continually being revisited in an ongoing process. These are often worn and weathered objects, landscapes and cityscapes, with subjects such as trees, flowers, fences, books, buildings, chairs, shoes. These may be freshly observed as new ‘discoveries’ in other countries and cultures, as well as more familiar subjects found close to home.
